I have only seen them sold in person from $19 to $21 and it was the same seller. You did not like it, you did not waste much money.Įdit: I'll add do not pay any more than I did. If you just want to try it out before you go full monty and pay hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on a real one like I am planning on doing, this is the one to get. In fact only two bass buttons (four sounds though on the push and pull) and seven tune buttons (fourteen sounds on the push and pull). You can not play the bass and the tune at the same time. ![]() But I will say that I am obviously looking for something much much better. Paid $20 for it and although I found a crack and had to super-glue it (I believe who ever put the leather strap on, over tightened the screw and maybe my mighty grip further exacerbated the situation.), I have found enjoyment from it.Īlthough not small enough to fit in my pocket, I can virtually take it any where hassle free. but that is a very far cry from being limited to just "simple nursery songs" It's important to understand that diatonic instruments are harmonically limited and can't do key changes, chromatic alterations, any significant chordal accompaniment. You could play just like this on the $30 toy, except that (1) the tuning would sound terrible and (2) you'd have to work the leaky bellows much harder. And here's some fairly virtuosic playing on a souped-up toy like I mentioned in the other comment. On accordions specifically, you can do virtuosic playing like this on one row DBAs that are the $3000 equivalent of this toy (the range is usually a bit bigger – ten buttons rather than seven – but lots of music played on them stays within just the two octaves anyway). ![]() There's plenty of interesting music (on accordion or other instruments) limited to just those notes, whether or not you personally like it. The problem with toy instruments is the rock-bottom quality, as you mention – but not the fact that it's limited to two diatonic octaves. That's some serious anti-diatonicism right there. There's no way to adapt anything more complex than simple nursery songs to an instrument this limited
